He was a man with a big heart, indescribable courage and entrepreneurial foresight. He loved people, and he loved his Tuntenhausen. On January 22, Josef Eder, the company founder of Eder Familien Holding, fell asleep peacefully at the age of 81.
He leaves behind a large family, including his wife Hildegard, his daughter Hildegard, his sons Josef and Peter, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as more than 2100 employees.
A passionate entrepreneur
Josef Eder was a passionate entrepreneur. Born on August 11, 1938, into a farm with a blacksmith and wagon shop, he became a blacksmith and later trained as a master agricultural machinery mechanic with Bader Senior in Feldkirchen. At the age of 18, he took over responsibility for his parents' farm in Tuntenhausen, brought motor oil to the farmers on his moped and began trading.
Laying the foundation stone for Eder agricultural technology in 1956
Thus, in 1956, he laid the foundation for today's Eder-Landtechnik, which has developed into a professional partner for agriculture and other industries thanks to a wide range of products, from forklifts to tractors and harvesting machines to barn technology. His entrepreneurial courage cost Sepp Eder many a sleepless night, but always brought him forward. He took over companies in order to preserve jobs. At the end of the 6o's, he led the family business through a crisis in agriculture. To put the company on a second secure footing, he entered the automotive trade in 1967. Today, the Auto Eder Group is one of the largest automobile dealers in southern Bavaria with 13 vehicle brands.
Teacher of hundreds of young people
Josef Eder shaped the economic development of an entire region and was the master teacher of hundreds of young people. His visionary decisions had a signal effect, for example in Kolbermoor. The Auto Eder site there successfully expanded to five car dealerships and provided the impetus for the development of the industrial park.
The development of his home town of Tuntenhausen was particularly close to Josef Eder 's heart. In 1970, he laid the foundation stone here for the heart of the Eder family holding company, in 1982 the first Profi DIY store was built and in 2017, with the Edeka store, a local supply center for the village. His vision will be fulfilled when Aldi and a drugstore are also allowed to settle here.
Setting the course for the future in 2002
Josef Eder set the course for the continued existence of the Eder family holding company in 2002 when he handed over the business to his two sons Josef and Peter Eder. He remained the heart and family council for the company until his death.
Josef Eder loved people, met everyone at eye level and listened to his family, employees and anyone who needed his help. In 2002, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa
Josef Eder was a husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, entrepreneur, teacher and local councillor. Until the end, he enjoyed having a coffee in the morning at the Schiedermeier bakery or meeting his old colleagues and friends at the market café in Tuntenhausen.
On February 1, at 11 a.m., this wonderful person will be remembered once again in the Tuntenhausen Basilica. As a farewell, he does not want flowers, but a donation for the Neighborhood Assistance Tuntenhausen.
